November’s sale boasts the usual assortment of rare items, not least a fine set of Braun and Hogenberg’s Civitates orbis terrarum. There are atlases by Ptolemy, Ortelius, and Mercator, a spectacular world map by Giovanni Cimerlino using an unusual heart-shaped projection, and a small collection of eighteenth and nineteenth century fans decorated with cartographical designs.
