The highlight of November’s sale of Music and Continental Books and Manuscripts is undoubtedly the composition manuscript for Robert Schumann’s Szenen aus Goethes “Faust”, 1844-1853, the first major musical setting of sections of both Part 1 and Part 2 of Goethe’s Faust.

There is also an autograph working manuscript by Mozart, including sketches for two canons (K.559 & K.561), and two unknown works, c.1788.

The sale also includes a wide selection of continental books and manuscripts including a beautiful livre d’artiste illustrated and inscribed by Raoul Dufy.
