December 17th, 2009 by

Tammy starts this episode with an explanation of Bakelite, a very accessible collectible from the 30’s and 40’s, available in every price range. She also educates us on engravings and some of its many forms. Tammy answers a viewer question on comic book grading and the pros and cons of grading your collection. We then travel to Pennsylvania for a newsworthy interview with Timothy Hughes, of Timothy Hughes Rare Newspapers. Timothy talks about rare newspapers from around the world, including a German paper from 1532 and a first report of the Declaration of Independence, which recently sold for $425,000 at auction. He also gives some helpful tips if you are thinking about starting your own collection.
